I just bought 2 Thermos Funtainers for my kids for a camping trip last weekend, and must admit that I love them! Although the warnings on the Thermos tags warned to "not use with hot liquids" because of potential burns, we used ours for Hot Chocolate and were just careful with not using too hot of water. Each Funtainer had a spare straw inside. For around $13 each from Walmart, I think they are a great choice for kids.

i recently tossed all of the bpa plastic from my home and replaced them with "better" alternatives. we LOVE the foogo! we also love the safe sippy stainless steel cup, but it tends to leak a bit. i've been meaning to try a klean kanteen... and now that i've seen another great review, i may snap one up!

oh and thanks for the comment!!!

Hey, my kids use these too ! I absolutely love them. In our hot climate, these bottles can keep my kids' water cold from 8am to 4 pm !

Alicia,
Thanks for your comment and first hand experience info with the Foogo/Funtainer bottles. We'll have to get a couple of these for my kids before wintertime, since the Siggs/Klean Kanteens do not do well with hot beverages. Another good thing I forgot to mention in the post about the Thermos is they make them in several kid-friendly patterns like Spiderman and KungFu Panda, among others. Take care,

I'm thoroughly enjoying your blog on lunch gear! I'm a water bottle addict myself and having access to every single bottle on the planet at wholesale prices makes it very difficult not to feed the obsession :)

I've used each of the bottles you mentioned here with my own kids, and all of them are great bottles - but nothing compares to the Foogo/Funtainer. You just can't beat an insulated bottle for keeping drinks cold or warm. We take ours to the movies (in an effort to avoid soda pop) and we take them along with hot chocolate for sledding too.

Thermos has dominated this market for years, and I'm shocked that no one else has stepped up with another insulated stainless steel cup for kids. I have heard through the manufacturer grapevine that another company is set to introduce a new one later this year - YEAH! The more the merrier.
