A new, affordable, and easy to use lunchbox is now available from EasyLunchboxes.com. I have used the EasyLunchboxes lunchbox system for my 2nd grader for the last couple of months and have been very happy with its ease of use and washability.  Plus, having only one lid that covers three separate food compartments has been great!

The three inner compartments are nicely sized and include one large compartment (appropriate for a sandwich, pasta salad, etc.), and two smaller compartments great for fruit salads, cheese slices, crackers, or other sides. The size is great for my 7 year old but would also hold an ample amount of food for an adult’s lunchbox. lunch-bag The overall size is quite similar to the Laptop Lunches system without so many pieces to keep track of. The plastic is quite sturdy and rigid–similar to the Ziploc line of semi-disposable food storage containers. I have sent ours through the dishwasher a dozen times or more and the plastic remains undamaged and unwarped. So far, so good!

The containers come in a four pack at a very affordable price of $13.95. For those of us with kids who tend to lose their lunchboxes this is a very welcomed benefit of this product!  EasyLunchboxes also sells an insulated lunch bag inkids-lunch-ideas a variety of colors for $7.95.  These lunch totes are much larger than the lunch container so that you have ample room for a drink, yogurt, or other items in the carrying bag along with the lunch container.  Since I have my daughter buy milk at school I have mostly opted to stick the EasyLunchboxes inside a smaller kids lunch tote.  However, since you can stack three filled containers in one of the EasyLunchboxes carry bags, I anticipate using this system for trips to the zoo and swimming pool when we can fill three lunchboxes and only have one lunch bag to keep track of. A big plus!

The EasyLunchboxes website also offers great healthy lunchbox ideas and they have dozens of pictures of packed lunches you can page through. I spent quite some time flipping through their pictures and gaining a bit more lunchbox inspiration to last me through the end of the school year. (To see these lunch idea photos click HERE…).

Melissa, Glad you like them, too! I also love how well they stack so you don’t take up a lot of cabinet space–a big plus in our not so huge kitchen :)

These lunch boxes have a similar concept to a lunch box I recently bought at a school fair called The New Generation Lunch Box. Its awesome. I love not wasting so many plastic bags. The NEw Generation Lunch Box fits right inside my kids’ insulated lunch bags from Target so I didn’t have to purchase a separate bag for it. Some great new concepts in lunch boxes. I love it because I HATE making lunch!

I confess that this morning, Oct 3, 2012, I did not walk my kids to school for International Walk to School Day. My excuse (not a great one, but at least I have one!) is that my fifth grader is on her Safety Patrol rotation at school, and making it to school at 715 for [...]

About

I'm Meg, a stay home Mom of 3 interested in promoting healthy, low waste lunches for kids and grownups. I aim to present good recipe ideas for packed lunches and to analyze lunchbox products currently available. I encourage involving your kids in all aspects of food. From gardening, to nutrition, to enjoying recipes and making some up... there is a lot to learn and enjoy. Cooking with kids in the kitchen is both spectacularly messy and fun, and generally well worth the extra cleanup time...

If you have an idea for this website or would like to contribute an article to my blog, please contact me! I am also happy to review products if you would like to send me a sample. I am always looking for new information, products, and ideas to keep lunchtime fun and healthy.
