Awesome Picnic Basket for Summer Poolside Lunches

Posted by: Meg In: Lunchbox Products

lunch-basket I ran across this awesome Picnic & Beyond picnic basket on Amazon and I am having serious lunchbox envy! I think this would be a great insulated lunch basket to take to the pool all summer, and the zippered top would help keep all the pesky ants out of my kids lunches.  Made with an aluminum frame and polyester fabric, the basket appears quite roomy and measures (in inches) :17.32×9.84×13.39.  One could easily pack a picnic lunch for a family in its roomy size.

I have a similar basket made by Reisenthel (called a Market Basket) that I love. However it does not have the zippered top that would help in insulating the lunch inside as well as keeping the ants out.  My Reisenthel basket seems to always be full of stuff–usually bathing suits, goggles, snacks, and sunscreen for the pool. If I splurge and get one of these zippered picnic baskets I could have a lunch tote dedicated to bringing lunches to the zoo, pool and playground. The $40 up front that I spend would save us money in our day to day lives by eating out less and keep our lunches healthy for our kids. Plus, who wants to leave the pool when the kids get hungry ??

Does anyone have one of these Picnic & Beyond lunch baskets? If so please let us know what you think of it–unfortunately Amazon has no user reviews on it and I always like to get a few folks’ opinions before I make a purchase!

I'm Meg, a stay home Mom of 2 interested in promoting healthy, low waste lunches for kids and grownups. I aim to present good recipe ideas for packed lunches and to analyze lunchbox products currently available. I encourage involving your kids in all aspects of food. From gardening, to nutrition, to enjoying recipes and making some up... there is a lot to learn and enjoy. Cooking with kids in the kitchen is both spectacularly messy and fun, and generally well worth the extra cleanup time...
