Green Lunchbox Ideas from Cool Foods Campaign

Posted by: Meg In: Lunchbox Ideas

cool_foods The Cool Foods Campaign researches the connections between the foods we eat and their contribution to global warming. The campaign encourage people to reduce their impact on global warming through food and lunch product choices through 5 key areas.  To reduce your food “footprint” they suggest that we:

  1. 1. Buy organic
  2. 2. Reduce meat and dairy consumption
  3. 3. Avoid processed foods
  4. 4. Choose locally produced foods or foods grown as close to your home as possible

5. Buy whole foods in bulk or with reduced packaging

I think these are all great suggestions, and with #5 I think the purchase of a waste-free lunchbox should be part of the overall reducing our food footprint plan.

The Cool Foods Campaign is a project of the Center for Food Safety and the CornerStone Campaign. For more information on this great organization or to signup as a Cool Foods Member visit CoolFoodsCampaign.org.  Do you know of other similar organizations? If so, please share!

About

I'm Meg, a stay home Mom of 2 interested in promoting healthy, low waste lunches for kids and grownups. I aim to present good recipe ideas for packed lunches and to analyze lunchbox products currently available. I encourage involving your kids in all aspects of food. From gardening, to nutrition, to enjoying recipes and making some up... there is a lot to learn and enjoy. Cooking with kids in the kitchen is both spectacularly messy and fun, and generally well worth the extra cleanup time...
