Fabkins a Fabulous Addition to Your Waste-Free Lunch Box

Posted by: Meg In: Lunchbox Products

fabkins-kids-cloth-napkins Fabkins sent me 2 of their kid friendly 100% cotton napkins and they have been a big hit in my kids lunchboxes.  I must admit that although I have packed mostly waste-free lunches for my kids over the past few years, I have ignored the importance of a cloth napkin in making a lunchbox truly waste-free.  I know my kids aren’t clean enough to not need a napkin! Now, when I stick a cloth one in their lunchbox, I know I am saving 1 (or a few) paper napkins at school from going in the trash can.

Fabkins come in sets of 4 in 10 different themes, with cute embroidered designs stitchedcotton-napkins-for-kids onto these adorable napkins. They have several traditional boy and girl themes, such as “Xtreme Sports” and “Prima Ballerina”, and several of their themes are more gender neutral such as the “Garden Friends” and “Beach Bound” napkin sets.

Fabkins features include:

  • Made of soft 100% cotton
  • Perfectly sized for kids’ laps and lunch boxes: 13″ square
  • Child’s name may be written on the sewn-in label to prevent loss
  • Easy care instructions: Machine wash warm, tumble dry low. Wash before first use.
  • Napkin may double as a placemat–you may want to stick in 2!
  • Price is $19.95 for a set of 4, though “Surprise Me” sets of 2 are often available on their website for $6.95.
  • Fabkins also offers customized napkins with school or office logos. For more info email: info (AT) fabkins (DOT) com
  • ballerina-napkinsOne cute idea I got from the Fabkins website is the use of their napkins as party favors. Young girls would love a ballerina tea or lunch birthday party using such cute personalized napkins. A napkin could then be sent home with each friend as one of the party favors. This would be a great way to encourage school friends to pack more waste-free lunches, and it would be fun for the girls to use the napkins at school together in the lunchroom.

Fabkins are available at several retail stores in California and a few other states. They are also available at Fabkins and several other online merchants listed here.

    About

I'm Meg, a stay home Mom of 2 interested in promoting healthy, low waste lunches for kids and grownups. I aim to present good recipe ideas for packed lunches and to analyze lunchbox products currently available. I encourage involving your kids in all aspects of food. From gardening, to nutrition, to enjoying recipes and making some up... there is a lot to learn and enjoy. Cooking with kids in the kitchen is both spectacularly messy and fun, and generally well worth the extra cleanup time...
