Outdoor Preservation and Picnics Can Go Hand in Hand

Biodegradable Picnic Gear from Firebox

Now that Spring is officially here, it is time to break out the picnic baskets and start eating outside! Picnics–like lunchrooms–mean lunch on the go, but you can still maintain a waste-free philosophy in packing a picnic.

There are great picnic basket options if you search on places like amazon.com, and even local Walmarts and Targets stock up on good picnic gear at this time of year.  Many kits have a set of reusable plastic plates and come with silverware and cloth napkins.  If going with plastic make sure it is made from a safe plastic (like polypropylene). Another good picnic option is a pyramid tiffin carrier, you can see one at my Tiffin Carrier post.

Of all the picnic tips I could offer, by best tip is to use a twin fitted sheet as a picnic table tablecloth.  The elastic keeps the sheet snug on the table and keeps it from blowing away. You can get really cute sheet designs, too!  Ross, TJ Maxx and similar discount stores often carry single fitted all cotton sheets for around $6. Do you have a favorite tip?

Grab your picnic gear and head outdoors!

Picnics are cool and exciting. In this economy, people are always looking to save money on family activities. Picnics are one way to help you save a little bit of money while having fun.. Whats so great about a picnic is that children typically like them just as much as adults. Hey, grab your picnic baskets and enjoy.

Hi Juliette,
Thanks for visiting my site and leaving a comment! I love picnics, too. I just bought a Reisenthel market basket to use as a picnic and everyday tote around town basket… I’ll post a review of it one of these days. Does the site you reference carry a similar basket?
Enjoy your picnics :)
