Lynda,
Thanks so much for visiting and watching the video on kids with allergies. I just watched the video again myself and my heart goes out to all the families dealing with food allergies. In your case I am sorry you aren't getting more support from other parents at your school.... Have you tried sending out a letter to your son's classmates to explain his allergy and the health threats associated with it? Would it be possible to have "peanut free tables" in the classroom or in the school cafeteria? (This is what is done in my daughter's public elementary school--any kid with a peanut free lunch can eat at those tables). I wish you and your son the best and hope that a cure--or at least more support and understanding--will come sooner rather than later.

I am so glad you had this video to share. My son has a severe peanut allergy & I am at ends with his school. Not one of the parents for his class seem to care, they are constantly sending peanuts to the class for snacks. i have to say i am happy that his teacher takes it seriously, but she seems to be the only one. :( this video made me cry (silly i know) but to hear all those sweet kids talk about how they could die from a food kills me. Again, thank you for sharing!

This is great post and super helpful too. I think you should make it sticky or keep it near the top, as you can help a lot of people with this. It's also good for when you have kid's parties and don't know who is allergic to what items.

I know what you mean regarding undiscovered allergies... My husband had chronic stomach issues and we figured out about a year ago he has intolerance to soy products. We've always eaten a lot of soy and "fake meat" products... Now that he has cut out most of the soy from his diet he is doing much better--hard to adjust, though! I love packing bento, too... though for us it is usually packing lunchboxes for kids or picnics on the weekends. Seeing all the cool bento creations online is fun, though--I can live vicariously through my eyes...

This was a great post. I spent my whole life eating foods I wasn't supposed to because I didn't know I was allergic. Now as an adult, I find it hard to change my eating habits, even though it may mean that I will just be perpetually ill. That's why I like bento. I have cute lunches that everyone else is jealous of!
