Is that a Froose in your Lunchbox?

Posted by: Meg In: Lunchbox Ideas

frooseDuring my research for healthy lunch box ideas, I came across a drink product I had not yet encountered: Froose® .  Invented by a Mom concerned about her kids health, Froose® is made to be a healthier juice by incorporating whole-grains. After reading about the product on their site, Froose® appears to be a great idea and good substitute for standard juice boxes.  Froose® is a combination of whole grains and 100% fruit juice, therefore delivering fiber and whole grain nutrients beneficial to growing kids.

The good: healthy alternative to juice for kids, excellent source of soluble and insoluble fiber (same amount as eating a whole piece of fruit), half the sugar found in regular serving of juice, organic ingredients

The not so good: As far as I can tell from their web site, the product is delivered in juice box form, which is wasteful. Hopefully the company will come out in a gallon size so that smaller servings can be put in reusable bottles for the lunchbox.

Have you tried Froose® ?  If so, what do you think of it and do you have a favorite flavor?

I think you might like our product, which is named “First Juice”. We try to not be wasteful by making a reusable-refillable-recyclable single serve bottle (with a custom built top that took us 2 years to build right, AND that won’t spill) and we sell a 32oz refill size, to be more economical, and so you can refill the smaller bottles.

Our juices are ALL less than 50% of the sugar content in 100% apple juice, and they taste great. We go to great lengths sourcing & blending juices together and our 2 new flavors use Purple Carrot.

**Note: We are currently updating our website, adding the 2 new flavors, and some cool downloads for children, so bear with us there. The updates should be done by 1.20.09, hopefully sooner, so check the site again then, too.

About

I'm Meg, a stay home Mom of 2 interested in promoting healthy, low waste lunches for kids and grownups. I aim to present good recipe ideas for packed lunches and to analyze lunchbox products currently available. I encourage involving your kids in all aspects of food. From gardening, to nutrition, to enjoying recipes and making some up... there is a lot to learn and enjoy. Cooking with kids in the kitchen is both spectacularly messy and fun, and generally well worth the extra cleanup time...
