10 Best Things to Complete Your Lunch Box

Posted by: Meg In: Lunchbox Ideas

Here is a list of some great items to add when your lunchbox needs another little something. Would love to hear others if you have them!

1. Cut up melon or grapes Easily add color and nutrition to your lunch box! Try to keep a container of cut melon in the fridge so you have something quick and easy to add when packing lunch

2. Hard boiled egg a great source of protein and coline, lightly salted will make a picky eater eat. Try an egg mold for kids lunches for a very popular addition to a kids lunchbox!

3. Trail Mix protein, vitamins, and minerals all in one. Kids love to help make batches of this at home (see link)

4. Cheese Slices, Cubes, or Sticks

5. Carrot Sticks

6. Almonds

7. Peanut Butter Balls

8. Garbonzo Beans / Chick Peas I may be lucky, but even my picky eater likes these. I think they are fun finger foods for kids because the skin of each chick pea can be used to “squirt” the bean into their mouths…

9. Dried apricots, blueberries, cranberries or other fruit

10. Yogurt nutritionally rich in protein, calcium, and vitamins B6 and B12. To save plastic, try storing a large container of yogurt in the fridge and use reusable sealed containers in your lunchbox. To sweeten plain yogurt, add a bit of jelly or preserves, or cut up fruit such as strawberries or peaches.

Your tip #2 mentioned an egg mold. What exactly is that? I’m very intrigued.

Thanks for asking, Julie! An egg mold is a small mold you can get in various shapes that you can put a freshly boiled hard boiled egg into to make a fun shaped egg for your lunch box. They come in various shapes including cars, stars, hearts, and chicken shapes, among others. They are so cute, I will dedicate a post to them soon so please check back. Thanks for visiting my site!
