Walk to School Day: Did You Do It?

Posted by: Meg In: News| School Stuff

I confess that this morning, Oct 3, 2012, I did not walk my kids to school for International Walk to School Day. My excuse (not a great one, but at least I have one!) is that my fifth grader is on her Safety Patrol rotation at school, and making it to school at 715 for [...]

I.D. Me Labels Cute and Holding Strong

Posted by: Meg In: School Stuff

I have now enjoyed my set of ID Me Labels for a couple of months and they are holding strong through several dishwasher loads and typical kid abuse. I recommend their personalized labels as a great option for keeping your easy-to-lose stuff a bit more secure. We chose to put simply our last name [...]

I recently had the pleasure of e-corresponding with John Flansburgh of the popular band They Might Be Giants. Unfortunately, summer is more than half way over for our kids. I am already dreading the early morning routine of the upcoming school year.  The stores are becoming stocked with back-to-school gear, which becomes a constant reminder of the upcoming end to summer.  Are you a summer-lover too or ready for the school year to [...]

Greening Your School

Posted by: Meg In: School Stuff

I recently read about a movement for creating green schools from the ground up or retrofiting older schools to be more Green. Since my daughter’s elementary school was built in 1929 (and seems to need a retrofit anyways!), I find the movement interesting, particularly since the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 will give school districts access [...]

  • USDA Healthy Lunch Ad … Starring My Nephew!

Now that a generation of people is a bit on the hefty side, schools have started to change their menus towards more healthy options.  I’m sure some school zones are more on the way towards healthy school lunches than others, but at least as a nation we seem to be headed in the right direction. [...]

About

I'm Meg, a stay home Mom of 3 interested in promoting healthy, low waste lunches for kids and grownups. I aim to present good recipe ideas for packed lunches and to analyze lunchbox products currently available. I encourage involving your kids in all aspects of food. From gardening, to nutrition, to enjoying recipes and making some up... there is a lot to learn and enjoy. Cooking with kids in the kitchen is both spectacularly messy and fun, and generally well worth the extra cleanup time...

If you have an idea for this website or would like to contribute an article to my blog, please contact me! I am also happy to review products if you would like to send me a sample. I am always looking for new information, products, and ideas to keep lunchtime fun and healthy.
